Raphael Architects provided space planning, interior design, and construction documentation to Adelphi Research to transform 20,000 square feet of traditional corporate office space, into 7,700 square feet of an open office environment. Our approach was to create an open space plan that supports the workplace strategies and improve collaboration and flexibility. The fundamental attributes for a successful open plan was to provide the ability to reconfigure workstations easily to meet the needs of the work environment.
Benching workstations include privacy panels and storage amenities to create an energized environment without sacrificing individual privacy and performance. The central open area includes small and large huddle spaces for group interactive discussions. The space is inhabited with six flexible unassigned seating arrangements. Each setting provides a different level of privacy for group discussions from café style tables near the new coffee bar, to ‘comfy’ lounge seating, to classroom style seating complete with white boards and wall mounted TV monitor. The furniture can easily be reorganized to seat the entire staff for companywide meetings and presentations.
The final component of the new office transforms nine existing offices into small meeting rooms for the employees; creating a controlled environment to support telephone and face-to-face client interviews – the bread and butter activity of their business.
